Family.

Time and time again, I’m reminded of a few facts.

1. I have the amazing ability to make awkward statements at the exact moment when all other conversation stops, making it even more awkward.

2. I have two families: my blood family and my dtoid family.

Since Thursday up until 4 hours ago, I was in Toledo, Ohio, with some of the greatest people in the world. I neither would nor could ask for a better group of people to know and to have befriended, and to say that they mean the world to me would be an understatement. As much as I want to list each and every one of them, I’d end up taking hours, and no one wants to read that.

There was something magical about it all this morning. We had found our way outside on a beautiful day with a cool breeze, sitting on the lawn and making each other laugh. It’s something so completely surreal that most people might dismiss as being a Hollywood cliche that never occurs, but it did. People from all over the nation had found their way to a house in Toledo to simply be with each other. It may seem crazy to some when I tell them I spent about $200 just to fly halfway across the nation to “hang out”, but this is my family. I love them.
